RFDC After-School Program
This year-round program provides students in 1st –9th grades, and their families, a safe place to study, do homework, play and be creative. Science, mentoring, arts and crafts, reading opportunities, and regular field trips are some of the tools used in this program. The objective is to improve students’ academic performance by making learning fun.
The after school program is opened to children attending local schools. Parents are required to attend monthly. We are recognized as a State Dept. of Education Supplemental Service provider (homework center), offering satellite services to local school district partners.
Parent Empowerment
We work with adults to help them be better able to help their children. We provide Adult education, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and Citizenship classes.
Occupational test preparation is offered through partnerships with local corporations.
Computer Café
The RFDC Computer Café provides a range of programs serving the technology needs of children, adults and local business owners. At our Computer Café we integrate learning as a comprehensive approach to training that guides each learner through all stages of their learning lifecycle.
Health and Fitness
The Center was awarded a two-year grant from the California Endowment to add a health component to the services already offered at the Center. The goal is “to promote healthy behavior, keep families healthier and leaner, manage chronic conditions through preventative health programs, address behaviors risk factors, and increase the capacity of parents to advocate for their children.” Weekly fitness classes and a neighborhood-walking program highlight the activities.
Summer Kids Camp Summer Camp 2009 Video
