The Roberts Family Development Center and Hewlett Packard hosted their first Computer Learn and Receive Class. The class consisted of six students, who after completing the sixteen-session, 8-week course received a PC of their own to practice their skills. The class consisted of 4 weeks each of Computer Concepts, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. Students received a Certificate of Completion after passing course studies, and maintaining 90 % attendance.

"The class participation was better than expected," says Elmo Paige the course Instructor. "Everyone was very motivated and vary dedicated to the learning. We were able to establish a family connection that the Roberts FDC really emphasizes and honors. We even had a couple of unexpected class members (husbands of the moms) who attended the classes."

The Learn and Receive classes would not have been possible without the support of Hewlett Packard, who replaced the PC’s that were given to the participants. We were very excited about the first class, and are looking forward to the upcoming classes in the fall.
