Program Praise and Testimonials
The relationships and community partnerships we have established at the Roberts
Family Development Center enhance the success of our Mission for the students
and families in the North Sacramento Community. Individuals as part of
the family are our customers and we intend to serve them to the best of
our ability.
“ The North Sacramento School District greatly values its partnership with
the Roberts Family Development Center. As co-recipients of the CORAL (Communities
Organizing Resources to Advance Learning) Initiative in the north area of
Sacramento, it is wonderful to be able to collaborate in the provision of
high quality childcare and after school programs for our community. Certainly,
our relationship with the center is a powerful vehicle to operationalize
our mission through enhancing the education of children and youth strengthening
families.”
– John W. Brewer, Deputy Superintendent, North Sacramento School District
“ Thirty-six Woodlake students (and we are still counting) attend the Roberts
Family Development Center daily. Students receive help with homework, tutoring
in small
groups, and mentoring from your adults who serve as positive role models. Our
students are receiving top-notch support from the staff at the center.”
– Maria
Oropeza, Principal Woodlake Elementary, November 2002
“ The parent education component is also quite impressive. There are currently
twelve to sixteen parents from Woodlake School that are attending the English
as a Second Language classes offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. These same
parents have become involved in our weekly Coffee with the Principal meetings
at Woodlake.”
– Maria Oropeza, Principal Woodlake Elementary
“ [RFDC] has quickly become a symbol of hope in the North Sacramento community
of Dixieanne and the surrounding neighborhoods.”

“ I would like to commend Mr. Derrell Roberts and Staff for the ongoing
overall great job that they are doing at the Center. My sons attend the Center.
They
will be better prepared for school because of the help they receive there. Most
of the activities my children would have never been able to do without the help
of the Center.”
- Danielle Valdez, parent and community activist
“ The thing I love to do here more than anything is learn. I love to learn
new and exciting things. I had real fun going on field trips and doing projects
at
RFDC. I love this place and it is very nice. I recommend you coming here.”

“
In the past two years I’ve learned a lot and succeeded a lot from coming
to the Center. Since I have been coming to the Center I have been thinking and
acting differently because all the team leaders have an expectation for their
students.”
–RFDC Student
“ Here at RFDC we study educational material, but we get to have fun at
the same
time.”
–RFDC Student
“
RFDC is truly a program that focuses on the physical, emotional, and intellectual
growth and development of children. You have played a very active role in my
son’s life and have made positive differences in our family. The interaction
you’ve had with the school has helped strengthen the foundation that support
families and teachers in their relationships with children and each other by
getting actively involved in their education. Since my son has been in the program,
I have seen some improvement in his homework at school.”
