Teen Program
Guest Speaker Series
Marcos Breton, Journalist, Sacramento BeeSummary Presentation by Ruben Moody, 8th grade
On
Thursday, January 29th the Roberts Family Development Center Teen
Transition Program welcomed Marco Breton of the Sacramento Bee as our
guest speaker. Mr. Breton runs a bi-weekly column in the Bee focusing on sports
issues.
The issues he spoke about ranged from the Kobe Bryant case to the many athletes he has interviewed in his career. Mr. Breton also had the benefit to be a collaborator on the autobiography of Cubs slugger, Sammy Sosa. About the Kobe case, Mr. Breton asked us whether we thought Kobe was innocent due to his fame or simply because he really is. Most of us agreed that fame had a part to play in it.
What I like best about Mr. Breton is that he answered all of the questions we asked him. I also like the information he provided us such as how Shaquille O’Neal is really nice in person and how he admires Bobby Jackson on the court as well as off it.
Mr. Breton also spoke about the Super Bowl and he predicted that the New England Patriots would beat the Carolina Panthers, which they did. We enjoyed his presentation a lot and are eager to read his columns in the future.
