We are proud to announce that former WNBA All-Star and Monarchs player Yolanda Griffith will be working with the families of the Roberts Family Development Center. “Yo” knows how important it is being a role. She and other athletes have been involvement with a project where this question is being asked; are athletes role models? Is that the question?” Yolanda’s Griffith’s answer is simple. Heck yeah I’m a role model! To young women struggling with everyday problems and to single parents juggling the responsibilities of being provider and nurturer, I’m one of the fortunate role models.
With this in mind “Yo”, has teamed with the Center to create “Girls, Moms and Yo” which allows Yolanda to have a weekly impact on the lives of young ladies and their mothers living in some of Sacramento’s toughest neighborhoods. Weekly sessions with the girls will include girl talks, designed to get past the drama and look to solutions. Whether it’s talking about school, the complexity of friendships or the latest music trends “Yo” will lend an ear and give her thoughts to girls looking for experienced role models who can relate.
As “Yo” develops this partnership with our families, she also gets to develop her own non-profit All About Us Girlz. Sponsor a kid and her mom @ 10.00 per week and you just might be the reason she too becomes a role model. Want to do more?
