RFDC at Bannon Creek Elementary

RFDC at Bannon Creek is our newest of three sites in the Natomas Unified School District. Our amazing team consist of Angelica Syas, Site Coordinator, and Team Leaders, Ms. White, Ms. Contreras and Mr. Freeman. We serve 40 scholars at our Bannon Creek location. We operate program Monday through Friday from 1:35 to 6:00pm. For enrichment activities, we currently have Dance and Art. The students enjoy them both. We celebrate Freedom Fridays, a branch off of our summer Freedom Schools, that celebrates reading, diversity, and togetherness through a series of uplifting activities such as cheers and chants, our motivational song, and a moment of silence. Hidden Figures Essay Contest at Robla School District

On February 28, 2017, twelve students will be recognized for their outstanding achievements as they receive an award for the 'Celebrating Hidden Figures in Black History Essay Contest'. The Robla School District, in partnership with the Roberts Family Development Center will be recognizing these students at the annual Black History Celebration Dinner featuring Dr. Ramona Bishop, Superintendent of the Vallejo City Unified school District. The dinner will be held at Main Avenue Elementary (1400 Main Ave.) from 5:30-7:30pm. There will also be performances by the Strings Orchestra and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority STEP Team.

Kevin Bracy to Speak at Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy's Black History Program

On Tuesday, February 28, Motivational Speaker Kevin Bracy will come speak to the 7th and 8th grade students at Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy (MLKTA) for the first annual Black History Program. The purpose of the Black History Program at MLKTA is to honor those 'Hidden Figures' in Black History and to get our young scholars to start thinking critically and digging deeper into their own history. We are honored to have Kevin Bracy as the guest speaker for the Black History Program at MLKTA.
